The Promised Land PART 2 “Cast all worries to Him because He cares for you.” --1 Peter 5:7 ONCE street children, now they are children of The Promised Land! That is, the piece of land donated to He Cares Mission, our partner beneficiary. Last week, we introduced to you The Promised Land—not the one God gave to Abraham, first of the Hebrew patriarchs, anointed by God to be the Father of all Nations. As our feature recalled, in Genesis 17:4-7, God made a covenant with Abraham that kings who will rule the nations will be born from his bloodline. God promised that in Abraham’s “offspring” all the nations of the Earth would be blessed. Bible experts say this “offspring” refers to Jesus Christ, the Messiah (Galatians 3:16). In Genesis 15:18, God promised to give Abraham and his descendants a piece of land: “I promise to give your descendants all this land from the border of Egypt to the Euphrates River.” The land, as we know now, is Canaan, located on the easter end of the Mediterranean Sea. And from Abraham’s story, He Cares Mission for Street Children borrowed the name of its latest project-- yes, The Promised Land. As He Cares says on its Facebook page, The Promised Land aims to be a fulfillment of God's promise of healing the poor through providing food, both for the local community and for the street children fed weekly at the He Cares Center, as well as shelter for the poorest of the poor. The project also includes livelihood programs to give poor families a source of regular income, and sanctuary for those who want to experience God’s Presence. Instead of wandering on the streets in danger of becoming easy prey of lawless elements, the children now have fun helping He Cares founder Bro. Joe Dean Sola (above right), and his team of workers and volunteers develop the 5.5 hectare land, located in San Rafael, Bulacan, into a sustainable farm.
